Vet Bills: Get a fish

$1300

Um that would be the toal for the vet bills from LAST WEEK ALONE. Let’s see Frannie was $270 at my regular vet for a stich (laceration repair) and drain. Then Mamo got diagnosed with Lyme’s Disease – another $200. Then Frannie RIPPED OUT her stiches, and of course did it on a SATURDAY so I had to take her to an Emergency Animal Hospital that charges $150 JUST TO SEE a vet. The “work” is all extra.

So the grand total for just that care was OVER $700. sigh….Thank you Frannie! So I waited over 3 hours on a Saturday night (Vin’s birthday) to see the doctor with her. Yeah 8 months pregnant and all. Then I left her at midnight and had to come back to get her the next morning at 7 am.

So now she has a HUGE cone on her head – she is stitched, has a drain and a bandage. The wound isn’t even that bad but I don’t want her to rip it out again!

In the good news department I learned just how cheap my vet is!! In the bad news dept it was becuase I got ripped off my the animal hospital! LOL So now we go back tomorrow, and every 3 days for the next two weeks for bandage changes, drain removal, and then stitch removal. So the bill is still running but we won’t be telling Vin that. LOL.

Ugh….why don’t we just have goldfish!?

Dogs in Ancient Cultures

Dogs played a very big role in ancient cultures and religions, so it comes as no surprise that you can have your dog blessed in a church nowadays during the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi – the patron saint of animals, or that some clergy go beyond blessing animals and actually perform wedding ceremonies and other religious rituals for them.

The first dog chapel was established in 2001. It was build in St. Johnsbury, Vermont by Steven Huneck, a folk artist and children’s book writer whose five dogs helped him recuperate from a very sersious illness. The chapel is dedicated to them and is operated according to its official doctrine: “All credds, all breeds, no dogma.”

In 2003, the American Academy of Religion offered a scholarly discussion of the roles of animals in religion at their annual convention for the first time ever in history.

In 2004, an edict in the Middle East declared that muslin dogs – just like women there – must wear burquas covering all but their eyes and ears.

Guess dogs cannot be dogs any longer!

Jealous of My Dog’s Sleeping Schedule & Bed

Dog Beds and Healthy Pets

Sometimes, when I am leaving my house, on a beautiful day about to do something really fun, I feel so bad for my dogs. I look at them, as they gaze at me with those pleading eyes and feel so guilty for leaving. However, when it is 3 am, and I have not slept in 4 days because of toddler nightmares, or  the twins have a stomach flu, I start to think..hey, they have it pretty good. So because I have that kind of time on my hands I actually googled how much time dogs sleep. (Yeah it took all of two seconds to google it). But I bet it wouldn’t surprise you to know that dogs sleep on average more than half of their life.  On average a dog gets 16 hours of sleep, that’s twice the human average. (Lucky bastards.)   So I figured sense they spend about as much time laying around on their behinds as I do trying to lay down on mine,  they probably need a nicer dog bed to look at me pleadingly from.

I could not believe it. When my husband and I went to pick out our bed there were like 3 choices. I went to get my little well rested furballs a new bed and I couldn’t believe how many choices there were. There were  designer dog beds, orthopedic dog beds, cushioned dog mats and even dog couches for those looking to pamper. I was seriously starting to wish I could sprout a tail.

Seriously, is it weird that I wish to grow up to have the lifestyle (and sleep time) of my dog?

((((Yawn))))))
