There are many surgical procedures used to improve the shape and improve the beauty of different body parts. However these surgeries are not exempted from perils and restrictions. In place of making people attractive, the surgery sometimes end up leaving them scarred and deformed.
Then there are the esthetic disaster such as lopsided boobs, wind tunnel facelifts and trout pouts. Here are the questions you should know before making that critical decision- dont go for surgery until youve read them.
Are you the person who will operate me?
To get full and fair information you should have direct communication with your surgeon because only he can give you related information and he should also touch on the dangers of plastic surgery. Unless you have direct discussion with him, dont be ready for the surgery.
You should also make one thing clear that the same surgeon with whom you have consulted will complete the whole process and will not leave anything on their assistants.
Do you have the necessary qualification?
Dont be embarrassed to ask this question any surgeon with enough qualifications will be only too happy to tell you. And in the opinion of consultant plastic surgeon Mr. Jag Chana from Sanctuary Cosmetic Surgeons, the correct answer to this question is a qualification called an FRCS (Plast). This means they are a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and have specific training in plastic surgery, says Mr. Chana. Its also recommended that theyre a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Which type of process do you advise?
Your surgeon is the person who knows better about what procedure will best suit your case. Of course, you can give him suggestions but don't put too much emphasis on your advices, make sure he telle you about the differences of male platic surgery if you are male.
It is possible that different surgeons may give different opinions but you should go with that doctor who shows concern more in your health rather than money.
How many of my procedures did you do last year?
Experts opined that the surgeon should have an experience of performing at least 30-40 procedure alike to that you have choosen for. Id also ask how many years theyve been practicing says Shannon Porter Leeman. Its a terrible thing to say, but Id never see a surgeon in his thirties because I think someone needs to have in practice for at least 10 years to excel at what they do.
Do you have specialization in this procedure?
Many experts specialize in particular surgeries because they-or their patients feel they have special knowledge of it. And this question is one way to know if your surgeon favours your operation: naturally the greater the percentage, the more they get expertise.
This specialization becomes more significant in cases of cosmetic surgeries and other facial work. But as far as body surgery is concerned this doesnt make much difference.
Do you have some before and after photographs of the patients?
Watching before and after photographs might help you better in understanding the results of the particular procedure. Some clinics pay patients to talk about what they had done, so I wouldnt necessarily say youre going to get an unbiased opinion, says consultant plastic surgeon Mr. Rajiv Grover.
A close observation of the final results of operation, clinic staff and other arrangements might also help you in making a right selection.
Can you please tell me who is the anaesthetist? And in how many operations you have worked with him?
Why do you need to know this? Because it could impact on your recovery time, says Mr. Grover. When an anaesthetist works with a surgeon a lot, they get to know how long he or she takes over an operation. Then they can adjust the anaesthestic accordingly.
This helps in preventing postoperative sickness and thus ultimately improves recovery.
How much are plastic surgery costs
Though price is a main concern your choice should not be determined purely on price and you need to examine a plastic surgery picture as well. You should consider the choice of surgeon, hospital reputation, track record, after care and other factors. The prices may also increase in cases where the patients requests to undo or alter the effects of the surgery.
Do you have any questions for me?
Celebrities and plastic surgery
If the answer is No then you must search for a different surgeon. At the least a surgeon must question you about your lifestyle or smoking habits, medical history and other like questions to determine what procedure will help you and whether or not you are a eligible guy for the operation. A surgeon must talk with you about the dangers, consequences, side effects and other factors connected with surgery openly and if he neglects to do so you should ask him the reason behind it.
Do I trust my surgeon?
In the opinion of Mr. Stanek this is the most important question. Having faith in your surgeon is the most important factor in all type of surgeries specially in the case of cosmetic surgeries. Unless you have trust on him dont go for the operation.
